Arrival in Iceland
From the Faroe Islands, the MF Norönna reached almost Iceland overnight. As we get up, we see the snow-capped mountains of the southeast coast in the distance under a gray cloud cover. After breakfast, the Dalatangi lighthouse is reached at the southeast end of the entrance to the fjord. Yesterday it was cold on deck, today it is frosty. Again and again we have to leave the deck and „defrost“ inside.
We pass the beacon of Sléttanes on the northern fjord entrance. The farther the ship moves westwards into the Seyðisfjörður, the more cloud gaps allow the sun to let shine the snow on the mountains on the left and right. First „outposts,“ some remote farms, appear.
When we reach the destination, the village of Seyðisfjörður, the clouds continue to tear apart. After five years we are back in Iceland.
