Die Donau im Osten Rumäniens, auf dem Weg in ihr Delta, ist ein breiter Strom. Lediglich zwei Brücken führen hinüber und drei Fährverbindungen. In Brăila wollen wir die Fähre nehmen, um ins Donaudelta zu kommen.
Von den drei Zufahrten zu den Fähranlegern hat sich unser Navi für die zur LKW-Fähre entschieden. Damit haben wir Glück, denn bei den PKW-Fähren bewegt sich gerade nichts. Über eine sehr verbeulte stählerne Rampe fahren wir auf das Schiff. Bei den schweren LKW bildet sich ein großer Absatz zwischen Ponton (auf dem die Rampe endet) und Fähre, während eine Achse schon an Bord ist und die nächste noch auf der Rampe.
Adventure Danube Ferry The Danube in eastern Romania, on its way to its delta, is a wide river. Only two bridges lead across and three ferry connections. In Brăila we want to take the ferry to get to the Danube Delta. Of the three access routes to the ferry piers, our navigation system has chosen the one to the truck ferry. We are lucky, because the car ferries are not moving at the moment. We drive onto the ship via a very dented steel ramp. With the heavy trucks, a large step forms between the pontoon (where the ramp ends) and the ferry, while one axle is already on board and the next is still on the ramp.
Am Kassenhäuschen auf dem Ponton klebt der Aufkleber für Kreditkarten, aber der Kartenleser ist defekt. Glücklicherweise haben wir genug Bargeld. Die Fähren sind Doppelrumpfschiffe, auf denen die Fahrzeuge etwas chaotisch platziert werden. Einige LKW passen nur, indem die Zugmaschine quer zum Auflieger gefahren ist.
In der Ferne ist eine riesige Brücke im Bau zu erkennen. Auf dem anderen Ufer stauen sich LKW über hunderte Meter vor dem Fähranleger.
There is a sticker for credit cards on the ticket booth on the pontoon, but the card reader is defective. Fortunately, we have enough cash. The ferries are double-hulled ships on which the vehicles are placed somewhat chaotically. Some trucks only fit by driving the tractor across the trailer. In the distance, a huge bridge is under construction. On the other bank, trucks are jammed for hundreds of metres in front of the ferry dock.
