Nach zwei Sturmnächten im Südosten Irlands hatten wir die Hoffnung auf Abflauen des Windes. Aber auf der Fährüberfahrt ab Rosslare Harbour, Abfahrt 20 Uhr, waren wir sehr froh über unsere Reisetabletten. Die hatten wir vorher in einer Apotheke in Wexford gekauft. Nachts im Doppelbett unserer Kabine an Bord der Fähre wurden wir gefühlt in drei Richtungen gleichzeitig gezerrt. So heftig haben Wind und Wellen das Schiff traktiert. Um 14 Uhr sind wir froh, in Cherbourg in der Normandie wieder festen Boden unter den Rädern zu haben. Jetzt wollen wir auf der Heimreise ein paar Tage in Frankreich genießen.
Am Plage de Mondrée, jenseits vom Cap Lévi, haben wir einen schönen Strand-Stellplatz. Ein Schild zeigt in Bildern, dass hier Parken Tag und Nacht erlaubt ist, Campingmöbel und Markise jedoch nicht. Der Strand in der Bucht ist schön und wird auch genutzt, selbst im Frühherbst. In der Ferne ist der Leuchtturm an Cap Lévi zu sehen.
At Cap Lévi
After two stormy nights in the south-east of Ireland, we had hopes that the wind would die down. But on the ferry crossing from Rosslare Harbour, departure 8 pm, we were very happy about our travel tablets. We had bought them beforehand in a pharmacy in Wexford. At night, in the double bed of our cabin on board the ferry, we felt tugged in three directions at once. That’s how violently the wind and waves battered the ship. At 2 p.m. we are glad to have solid ground under our wheels again in Cherbourg in Normandy. Now we want to enjoy a few days in France on the way home.
At the Plage de Mondrée, beyond the Cap Lévi, we have a nice beach pitch. A sign shows in pictures that parking is allowed here day and night, but camping furniture and awnings are not. The beach in the bay is beautiful and is used, even in early autumn. The lighthouse at Cap Lévi can be seen in the distance.

Der Turm ist imposant. Seine Höhe, aber auch seine Form und die Bauweise in Naturstein machen was her. Unterhalb am Cap brandet das Meer an die Felsküste.
The tower is imposing. Its height, but also its shape and the natural stone construction are impressive. Below, at the Cap, the sea crashes against the rocky coast.
