In Astorga haben wir Glück und finden einen freien Platz auf dem großen Parkplatz an der Stadtmauer. Es ist eine römische Stadtmauer, im 13. Jahrhundert restauriert. Sie ist sehr gut erhalten. Oberhalb der Mauer ist schon die Kathedrale zu sehen und daneben der Bischofspalast. Den wollen wir sehen, denn er ist ein Werk des berühmten Architekten Antoni Gaudí. Das Gebäude ist Burg, Kirche und Herrenhaus, vom damaligen Bischof beauftragt. Es ist allerdings erheblich weniger verspielt, als Gaudís Bauten in Barcelona und in der Colónia Güell.
At Astorga we are lucky and find a free space in the large car park at the city wall. It is a Roman city wall, restored in the 13th century. It is very well preserved. Above the wall we can already see the cathedral and next to it the bishop’s palace. This is what we want to see because it is the work of the famous architect Antoni Gaudí. The building is a castle, church and mansion, commissioned by the bishop at the time. However, it is considerably less playful than Gaudí’s buildings in Barcelona and in the Colónia Güell.
