Nach der Überquerung des Raftsund führt die gut ausgebaute Straße an der Nordküste der Insel Austvågøy entlang. Ein Damm verbindet die vorgelagerte Insel Holdøy.
Bis auf ein paar entlegene kleine Inseln am südwestlichen Ende sind die wichtigsten Lofoten-Inseln durch Brücken und Tunnel verbunden. Die Europastraße 10, über die wir schon angereist sind, ist hier als nationale Touristenroute ausgewiesen und führt durchgehend über die Inseln. Bei Austnesfjord liegen die markanten Berge der Lofoten teilweise in den Wolken. Auf dem weiteren Weg nach Svolvær überqueren wir eine faszinierend extreme Stömung in einer Meerenge.
Onto Lofoten After crossing the Raftsund the well built road leads along the north coast of the island Austvågøy. A dam connects the island of Holdøy off the coast. Except for a few remote islets at the southwestern end the Lofoten islands are connected by bridges and tunnels. The European route 10, on which we have already arrived, is marked here as a national tourist route and runs consistently over the islands. In Austnesfjord the striking mountains of Lofoten are partially in the clouds. On the way to Svolvær we cross a fascinating extreme current in a strait.
In Svolvær treffen wir auf ungewohnt hohes Verkehrsaufkommen, sodass wir uns hier nicht lange aufhalten. Einen angenehm beschaulichen Kontrast zum Gewusel im Ort bildet der kleine Hafen. Die Straße 816 nach Henningsvær im Süden der Insel ist gesäumt von einer schroffen Felsküste.
In Svolvær we encounter unusual heavy traffic, so we do not stay here long. A pleasantly tranquil contrast to the bustle is the small harbour. The road 816 to Henningsvær in the south of the island is bordered by a rugged rocky coast.
