Bei der Durchfahrt durch Alcossebre entdecken wir in der Ferne einen ungewöhnlichen Leuchtturm. Da wollen wir hin. Es stellt sich heraus, dass es der Faro de Irta ist, in der Mundina Bucht im Sierra de Irta Naturpark. Der Turm im innovativen Design ist einer von nur zwei Leuchttürmen in Spanien, die vollständig von einer Frau entworfen wurden.
Die Zufahrtsstraße zum Leuchtturm ist für Fahrzeuge gesperrt, aber unmittelbar an der Küste führt ein Fußweg hin. An seinem Beginn liegt ein von Felsen eingerahmter kleiner Sandstrand. Aber dann folgt eine extrem raue Felsküste. Die wird von der Brandung traktiert, denn es bläst ein kräftiger Wind. Die Pinien sind das gewohnt, sie sind entsprechend gebeugt gewachsen.
At the Faro de Irta
As we drive through Alcossebre, we spot an unusual lighthouse in the distance. That’s where we want to go. It turns out to be the Faro de Irta, located in Mundina Bay in the Sierra de Irta Natural Park. The tower, with its innovative design, is one of only two lighthouses in Spain to have been designed entirely by a women.
The access road to the lighthouse is closed to vehicles, but there is a footpath leading directly along the coast. At its beginning is a small sandy beach framed by rocks. But then comes an extremely rugged rocky coastline. It is battered by the surf, because a strong wind is blowing. The pine trees are used to this; they have grown bent accordingly.
