Der entscheidende Grund, dass wir in diesem Herbst nach Italien und nach Venedig gereist sind, ist die Biennale, die hier noch bis Ende November stattfindet. Die Haupt-Ausstellungsareale liegen in den Stadtteilen Arsenale und Giardini im Südosten Venedigs. Ein wesentlicher Aspekt sind die Länder-Pavillons. Zunächst besuchen wir Giardini, aber die viel gelobte Performance im deutschen Pavillon ist heute zu unserm Bedauern abgesagt. Dafür erfreuen wir uns an anderen Arbeiten.
The decisive reason that we traveled to Italy and Venice this fall is the Biennale, which takes place here until the end of November. The main exhibition areas are located in the districts of Arsenale and Giardini in the southeast of Venice. An essential aspect are the country pavilions. First we visit Giardini, but the much praised performance in the German pavilion is today canceled to our regret. For this we enjoy other works.
Glücklicherweise ist Kunst nicht nur ernst. So wird hier im Pavillon von Korea Edvard Munchs „Der Schrei“ neu interpretiert. Am österreichischen Pavillon steht ein LKW auf dem Fahrerhaus, der Laderaum ist über eine Treppe bis oben hin begehbar. Weitere Exponate in diesem Pavillon sind so eingerichtet, dass Besucher sie kurzzeitig mitgestalten.
Fortunately, art is not just serious. For example, in the pavilion of Korea, Edvard Munch’s „The Scream“ is reinterpreted. At the Austrian pavilion there is a truck standing on the driver’s cab, the loading area is accessible by stairs up to the top. Other exhibits in this pavilion are set up so that visitors can help shape them for a short time.
