Von den Rocky Mountains sind wir in zwei Tagesetappen in die kanadische Prärie nach Drumheller im Südosten von Alberta gefahren. Von hier nach Osten bis zur Grenze von Saskatchewan und nach Süden bis zu den USA erstrecken sich die Canadian Badlands, auch bekannt als Alberta Badlands.
From the Rocky Mountains, we travelled in two day stages to the Canadian prairies to Drumheller in south-eastern Alberta. From here, the Canadian Badlands, also known as the Alberta Badlands, stretch eastwards to the Saskatchewan border and southwards to the USA.

Besonders gut sind diese Badlands nordwestlich von Drumheller zu sehen. Am Horse Thief Canyon, durch den der Red Deer River fließt, stehen wir auf dem Canyon-Rand und überblicken das „schlechte Land“. Und der Parkplatz hier oben ist uns nicht nur ein guter Stellplatz für die Nacht. Er liegt auch so günstig, dass in der Hitze Mitte August Wind für Abkühlung sorgt.
These badlands can be seen particularly well north-west of Drumheller. At Horse Thief Canyon, through which the Red Deer River flows, we stand on the edge of the canyon and look out over the ‘bad lands’. And the car park up here is not only a good place to spend the night. It is also so favourably located that the wind cools us down in the mid-August heat.
