On the way to the Gullfoss we can thaw again. This is very necessary, because we don’t get any better at the ‚golden waterfall‚ today than at Þingvellir. Frost and wind harry us. The powerful multiple waterfall has, as usual, sprayed the area. This has caused a large, uneven and sloping ice surface. Even in the parking lot in front of the falls, movement without slipping is only possible with difficulty.
We cannot stand it out here for a long time. In the restaurant above the falls a typical Icelandic soup brings back our spirits. And then, again, in spite of dim light and gray sky, we try to bring color into the landscape which looks like charcoal drawings.
