Wenn man in dieser Wüste lebt, ist dies vermutlich der Blick in die Hölle, also Dantes Aussicht. In mehrere Richtungen geht der Blick auf felsige Berge und Geröll. Am meisten allerdings fasziniert die Aussicht aus 1.500 m Höhe auf das Badwater Basin (Schlechtwasser-Bassin), bis zu 86 m unter NN. Meistens ist es wohl eine staubige Salzwüste. In diesem Winter hat es im Death Valley National Park ergiebig geregnet. Daher geht der Blick hier jetzt auf einen abflusslosen Salzsee. Seine schon mehr oder weniger trocken gefallenen Ränder und Zuflüsse haben bizarre Muster in die Landschaft gezeichnet.
If you live in this desert, this is probably the view into hell, Dante’s view. There are views of rocky mountains and scree in several directions. Most fascinating, however, is the view from 1,500 metres above sea level of the Badwater Basin, up to 86 metres below sea level. Most of the time it is probably a dusty salt desert. This winter it rained heavily in Death Valley National Park. So the view here is now of a salt lake with no outlet. Its edges and tributaries, which have more or less dried up, have drawn bizarre patterns in the landscape.
