Democratization anniversary

This year, 2019, in our hometown of Hamburg a few one hundred-year old institutions are celebrated, which were important for the democratic development of the second largest city in Germany. After the end of the First World War and the Empire in 1918, the people of Hamburg fought for access to education and codetermination: free elections to the city parliament, founding of university, adult education center and the Public Trust Hamburg Public Book Halls, agency of today’s largest public libraries of Germany.

The light installation at Hamburg’s city hall for this anniversary was photographed by Mrs. Roundgetter in the winter already. And then she captured the appropriate festive light atmosphere on the Binnenalster, the smaller of the two lakes in the center of our city.
