Beim isländischen Reiseveranstalter Isafold Travel haben wir die fünftägige Winter Photo Tour von Iceland Photo Tours gebucht. Der renommierte isländische Landschaftsfotograf Haukur Snorrason, unser Guide, holt uns nach dem Frühstück vom Hotel in Reykjavík ab. Außer uns beiden ist nur noch ein weiterer Teilnehmer mit auf der Tour, Robert aus Rotterdam. So haben wir zu viert viel Bewegungsfreiheit im sehr geländetauglichen amerikanischen Kleinbus. Der ist gut geheizt, denn über Nacht ist es bitter kalt geworden.
Unser erstes Ziel ist der Þingvellir Nationalpark, und dort der Öxarárfoss. Die Öxará stürzt hier über eine der Abbruchkanten der Kontinentallücke zwischen der nordamerikanischen und der eurasischen Kontinentalplatte. Später versuchen wir noch in weiteren Bereichen des Nationalparks zu fotografieren. Die Ausbeute brauchbarer Bilder ist überschaubar, denn das Licht ist miserabel und unsere Finger frieren.
Icy Þingvellir
At the Icelandic tour operator Isafold Travel we booked the five day Winter Photo Tour of Iceland Photo Tours. The renowned Icelandic landscape photographer Haukur Snorrason, our guide, picks us up at the hotel in Reykjavík after breakfast. Apart from the two of us, there is only one more participant on the tour, Robert from Rotterdam. So we have plenty freedom of movement in the very offroad capable American van. It is well heated, because it has become bitterly cold overnight.
Our first destination is the Þingvellir National Park, and there the Öxarárfoss. The Öxará falls over one of the breaking edges of the continental gap between the North American and the Eurasian continental plate. Later we try to take pictures in other areas of the national park. The yield of usable pictures is manageable, because the light is miserable and our fingers freeze.
