Kunming liegt in den Subtropen in 2000 m Höhe und gilt daher als Stadt des ewigen Frühlings. Trotz 3,9 Millionen Einwohnern hat sie ein leichtes, freundliches Flair mit viel Grün in den Straßen. Am frühen Morgen fahren wir mit dem Taxi zum Smaragdsee-Park mitten in der Stadt. Mehrere durch Brücken verbundene Halbinseln und Inseln bilden den Park, der für Frühübungen beliebt ist. Was uns dort geboten wird, übertrifft unsere Erwartungen bei Weitem. Eine Gruppe von etwa einem Dutzend Menschen wirbelt Schwerter durch die Luft (Taijiquan-Übungen).
Eternal spring
Kunming is located in the subtropics at 2000 m altitude and is therefore considered a city of eternal spring. Despite its 3.9 million inhabitants, it has a light, friendly flair with lots of green in the streets. In the early morning we take a taxi to Emerald Lake Park in the middle of the city. Several peninsulas and islands connected by bridges form the park, which is popular for early morning exercises. What we are offered there surpasses our expectations by far. A group of about a dozen people swirls swords through the air (Taijiquan exercises).
