Im ganzen Etosha National Park ist es nicht erlaubt, die Straßen zu verlassen oder aus dem Fahrzeug auszusteigen. Zur Tierbeobachtung wäre das auch gar nicht erforderlich. Auf und direkt an der Straße von Twee Palms nach Namutoni begegnen wir einigen der großen Tiere. Streifengnus und ein Impala queren die Straße. Ein Elefant findet im Busch frisches Frühlingsgrün und eine Giraffe macht Grimassen.
Graphics and slapstick
Throughout the Etosha National Park, it is not allowed to leave the roads or get out of the vehicle. For animal watching that would not be necessary anyway. On and directly on the road from Twee Palms to Namutoni we meet some of the big animals. Blue wildebeest and an Impala cross the road. An elephant finds fresh spring green in the bush and a giraffe makes faces.
Nach der Mittagspause brechen wir nochmal auf, diesmal nach Westen. Steppenzebras haben sich als grafisches Werk aufgestellt. An der künstlichen Wasserstelle Kalkheuwel belustigen uns mal wieder Giraffen mit ihrem Slapstik. Ein Kampfadler hat sich mit seiner Beute auf einem Strauch niedergelassen. Auf einem Baum hat sich ein Schwarm Rotschulterglanzstare versammelt. Und dann wuselt eine Gruppe Zebramangusten über die Zufahrt.
After lunch we start again, this time to the west. Burchell’s zebras have established themselves as a graphic work. At the artificial waterhole Kalkheuwel, giraffes amuse us with their slapstick. A Martial eagle has settled on a shrub with its prey. On a tree, a flock of Cape glossy starlings has gathered. And then a group of Banded mongooses scurries across the driveway.
