In der Mitte des Grunnførfjord führt die Straße über einen Damm mitten durch den Fjord hindurch. Die Aussicht auf die Berge, die den Fjord begrenzen, ist atemberaubend. Bei ansteigender Flut strömt das Meerwasser mit hohem Druck durch Öffnungen im Damm. Im Uferbereich des Fjords treibt der Wind Schnee aufs Wasser, das dort eine milchige Eisschicht bildet.
Grunnførfjord and Morfjord In the middle of Grunnførfjord, the road crosses the fjord on a dam. The view of the mountains that delimit the fjord is breathtaking. As the flood increases, the sea water flows through openings in the dam at high pressure. In the waterfront of the fjord, the wind drives snow on the water, which forms a milky ice layer.
Den noch weiter östlich liegenden Morfjord müssen wir ganz umrunden. Das wird mit herrlichen Ausblicken belohnt. Mit unseren Gummistiefeln stapfen wir durch tiefen Schnee hinunter zu einem kleinen Sandstrand.
The Morfjord still further east, we have to circle around completely. This is rewarded with magnificent views. With our rubber boots we trudge through deep snow down to a small sandy beach.
