Autumn forest
Now we can not only feel the autumn (in temperatures and storms) but it is also visible at the incipient coloruing of the foliage. After more than two weeks on the Isle of Skye and the Isle of Lewis and Harris, we drive through forest for the first time: extensive forests, not just coniferous plantations, as in the northern highlands.
We are back on the Scottish mainland exploring the peninsulas southeast of the Isle of Skye. At the small town of Doirlinn, where the Moldart peninsula merges into Sunart, we discover a hidden world. With lush mixed forest and deer grazing right in front of a mansion. And as an encore, there’s the ruin of Castle Tioram in the evening sun.
