In the Hardangervidda

From Aurlandsvangen to the Hardangervidda we drive through rain for a long time. But it stops in the evening and the following morning the weather sticks to the forecast with clouds and a little sunshine. Nevertheless, the Hardangervidda (English: Hardangerwidth) is soaked.

Road RV 7 across this largest plateau in Europe, between Geilo and Eidfjord, is one of Norway’s scenic routes. Since our first trip to Norway in 2004, at that time with a small car, this largest national park in Norway has had something magical for us: the incomprehensible expanse, the impassable terrain, the extremely high road markings for snow clearance, permanent cloud spectacles in the sky.
