Bare Duncansby Head
The approach to the lighthouse on Duncansby Head is bare, no tree, no shrub far and wide. The road leads up the hill in wiggly line.
The storm chases the rain clouds over the plateau. Sometimes a sunbeam fights through the many clouds and illuminates the island of Stroma, just north.
Behind the lighthouse the rocky coast falls steeply into the sea. Bizarre, sharp rocky cones hold against the waves. We enjoy the harsh beauty of the landscape and then look for a wind-sheltered place for the night.
