Kastoria-See

Lake Kastoria

We drove straight through Kastoria, towards the lake. At the end of the peninsula, which extends deep into the lake in the form of a mushroom, lies the monastery Panhagia Mavriotissa. The road, always right along the shore, is very narrow and lined with giant plane trees on both sides. This looks beautiful, but the branches are hanging so deep, that Aroundgetter has great trouble to avoid with the high C at least the thickest branches. The place near the monastery is very good for the night.

The next morning we circle the rest of the peninsula. Between the battle with the branches there is still time, to be observe pelicans and other water-birds. Cormorants dry their plumage in the sun and fishermen are on the lake with their boats.
