Im Norden der Insel Muhu liegt bei einer besonderen geologischen Formation ein Wanderparkplatz, den wir gern für eine Übernachtung nutzen. Üügu pank ist eine Kalksteinklippe am Meer. Sie ist nicht sehr hoch, aber sie zieht sich quer durch die Ostsee und bildet auch die Nord- und Westküste der schwedischen Insel Gotland (an der wir voriges Jahr die spektakulären Raukar im Sonnenuntergang gesehen haben). Oberhalb des Felsabbruchs liegt eine zauberhafte, karge Kalklandschaft mit Wacholderbüschen und besonders artenreicher Vegetation. Es ist ein Alvar (wie es z.B. von der schwedischen Insel Öland bekannt ist).
Üügu cliffs In the north of the island of Muhu there is a hikers‘ car park at a special geological formation, which we like to use for an overnight stay. Üügu pank is a limestone cliff by the sea. It’s not very high, but it stretches across the Baltic Sea and also forms the north and west coast of the Swedish island of Gotland (where we saw the spectacular Raukar at sunset last year). Above the rock face lies an enchanting, barren limestone landscape with juniper bushes and particularly species-rich vegetation. It is an Alvar (as it is known e.g. from the Swedish island of Öland).
