Von der Straße F208 zweigt 27 km östlich von Landmannalaugar die F235 nach Nordosten ab zum See Langisjór. Er gilt als einer der schönsten Seen Islands. Die Straße dort hin mit vielen einfachen Furten führt durch Landschaften, die scheinbar nicht von dieser Welt sind, aber anders als Veiðivötn oder Landmannaleið. Braun, Grau und Schwarz wird kontrastiert von quietschgrünem Moos. Wir wollen die Uferstraße am See entlang fahren. Laut isländischem Straßenatlas gibt es eine Piste entlang des westlichen Ufers. Nach einigem Suchen stellen wir fest, dass diese Straße nur von September bis Mai freigegeben ist und über den zugefrorenen See führt.
27 km east of Landmannalaugar road F235 turns off F208 north-east to lake Langisjór. It is considered one of the most beautiful in Iceland. The road up there with many easy fords leads through sceneries which are not apparently from this world, but differentl than Veiðivötn or Landmannaleið. Brown, grey and black is contrasted by yellowish green moss. We want to drive up the road along the bank of the lake. According to the Icelandic Road Atlas there is a track along the western bank. After some seeking we find out that this road is free only from September to May and it goes over the frozen lake.
Auf dem Rückweg zur F208 machen wir einen Abstecher zum kleinen See Blautulón. Auch hier dient das Ufer über etwa zweihundert Meter als Fahrbahn, allerdings als eine Art Furt. Wir überprüfen nicht, ob der „schmale Absatz“ laut Schild “Narrow ledge“ zutrifft.
On the way back to the F208 we make a side trip to the small lake Blautulón. Here, too, the bank serves as track over approximately two hundred meters, indeed as a kind of ford. We do not try weather the signposted “Narrow ledge“ is true.
