Seit einigen Jahren ist das Miniatur Wunderland die bedeutendste Sehenswürdigkeit Hamburgs. Inzwischen ist es sogar Deutschlands Nummer eins. Eine etwas verrückte Kreativität sowie Liebe zum Detail sowohl der Eigentümer als auch ihrer Mitarbeiter sind wesentliche Gründe für den Erfolg.
Miniature Wonderland
For several years now, the Miniatur Wunderland has been Hamburg’s most important attraction. In the meantime, it has even become Germany’s number one. A somewhat crazy creativity as well as love for detail of both the owners and their employees are essential reasons for the success.

Immer wieder wird die Anlage erweitert, um Länder und ganze Kontinente, aber auch um neue Technologien. Dabei ist das Miniatur Wunderland in denkmalgeschützten Gebäuden untergebracht, im UNESCO Welterbe Speicherstadt. Dennoch war es unter den strengen Auflagen von Denkmalschutz und Welterbe möglich, die Anlage in ein zweites Gebäude zu erweitern. In einem der oberen Stockwerke gehen wir über eine verglaste Brücke hinüber. Hier haben wir schöne Aussichten in die Speicherstadt.
The facility is constantly being expanded to include countries and entire continents, as well as new technologies. The Miniatur Wunderland is housed in listed buildings in the UNESCO World Heritage Speicherstadt (Warehouse City). Nevertheless, it was possible to expand the facility into a second building under the strict conditions of monument protection and world heritage. On one of the upper floors, we cross over a glazed bridge. Here we have beautiful views of the Speicherstadt.

Nach diesem Abstecher begeben wir uns in die Miniaturwelten. Dort ist nicht nur viel Technik zu bestaunen, es ist auch nichts Menschliches ausgelassen: Karneval in Venedig, Strandleben, bayrisches Volksfest, Verkehrsunfall, Kirmes, Weihnachtsbeleuchtung, das Fußballstadion im Hamburger Volkspark. Sogar Astrid Lindgrens Pippi Langstrumpf ist in der Skandinavien-Abteilung vertreten. Tag und Nacht werden simuliert und selbst ein Vulkan bricht aus.
After this detour, we move on to the miniature worlds. There is not only a lot of technology to marvel at, nothing human is left out either: Carnival in Venice, beach life, Bavarian folk festival, traffic accident, fun fair, Christmas lights, the football stadium in Hamburg’s Volkspark. Even Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking is represented in the Scandinavia section. Day and night are simulated and even a volcano erupts.
