Über Nacht ist unser Mietwagen auf dem Hotelparkplatz in Reykjahlið eingeschneit, das Hotel ist mit großen Eiszapfen dekoriert. Auf einem ersten Ausflug am Mývatn entlang fahren wir im Schneegestöber wie durch eine lebensgroße Kohlezeichnung. Die Landschaft hier am See ist geprägt von erstarrter und aufgebrochener schwarzer Lava und von Pseudokratern. Davon ist in dem vielen Schnee nur wenig zu sehen, oft nur ein feiner schwarzer Strich, wie auf weißem Papier. Hin und wieder kommt die Sonne durch und setzt leuchtende Akzente. Von den gelben Leitpfosten sind jetzt mehrere zu sehen, am Tag zuvor haben wir immer wieder verzweifelt den jeweils nächsten gesucht. Eine Fahrzeugkolonne mit Hundeschlitten fährt vorbei. Die sind in Island ungewöhnlich, aber jetzt sehr passend.
Minimalist landscape
Overnight, our rental car is snowed up in the hotel car park in Reykjahlið, the hotel is decorated with large icicles. On a first excursion along the Mývatn, we pass through snow flurry like through a life-size charcoal drawing. The landscape here at the lake is characterized by solidified and broken black lava and by pseudocraters. Of this is little to be seen in the plenty of snow, often only a fine black line, as on white paper. Every now and then the sun comes through and sets shining accents. From the yellow reflector posts are now several to be seen, the day before we were always desperately looking for each next one. A car column with dog sleds passes by. They are unusual in Iceland, but now very suitable.
