Der kleine Ort Miravet, etwa 50 Kilometer nördlich des Ebro-Deltas, ist mittels einer einfachen Flussfähre über den Ebro zu erreichen. Doch die ist zur Zeit wegen Reparatur außer Betrieb. Also müssen wir ein paar Kilometer auf der Schnellstraße durch eine atemberaubende Berglandschaft am unteren Ebro zurück und dann über den Pass in der Serra de Pàndols. So erreichen wir den empfohlenen Stellplatz beim Castell de Miravet hoch über dem Ort erst in der Dämmerung.
Die Auffahrt auf der Burgberg in engen Serpentinen ist extrem steil, und wir sind froh, dass es noch nicht ganz dunkel ist. Die Burg, schon von sehr weit zu sehen, ist eine ungewöhnlich wuchtige und massive Festung. Unmittelbar daneben ist der Parkplatz / Stellplatz, den wir nur mit einer jungen spanischen Familie in ihrem Camper teilen. Kaum haben wir das Wohnmobil positioniert, erleuchten große Scheinwerfer die Burgmauern.
Am folgenden Morgen können wir erst die gesamte Größe der Burg erfassen. Auf der Rückfahrt vom Berg werfen wir einen Blick von oben auf die Altstadt von Miravet. Unten angekommen ergibt sich ein völlig anderes Bild über den Ebro auf die Neustadt und dieFestung darüber.
The small town of Miravet, about 50 kilometers north of the Ebro Delta, can be reached by a simple river ferry across the Ebro. But this is currently out of service because of repair. So we have to drive a few kilometers on the highway through a breathtaking mountain landscape at the lower Ebro and then over the pass in the Serra de Pàndols. Thus we reach the recommended pitch at the Castell de Miravet high above the village only at dusk.
The driveway up the castle hill in tight serpentines is extremely steep, and we are glad that it is not quite dark. The castle, visible from very far, is an unusually powerful and massive fortress. Immediately next to it is the parking space / pitch, which we only share with a young Spanish family in their camper. As soon as we have positioned the motorhome, large floodlights illuminate the castle walls.
Only the following morning we can capture the entire size of the castle. On the way back from the mountain we take a look from above on the old town of Miravet. Once at the bottom, there is a completely different picture of the Ebro on the new town and the fortress above.
