Midsummer
Today should be the shortest night and the longest day. However, night in terms of darkness doesn´t take place here for a long time already. For weeks already around the clock is day for us. Sunset and Sunrise follow shortly after another. Inbetween there is not even dusk or dawn. At one of the eastern most places in the Westfjords, about 70 km south of the polar circle, last night we tracked sun down and rise at the polar sea. At 0:53 hours the sun had sunken in the north below sea horizon. At 1:59 hours it arose again a little east.
For this night a spectacular full moon was predicted, too. But because of clouds it was hardly visible. Then about 1:30 hours it showed between mountain tops and clouds. Additionally, a sensational cloud theatre was presented to us.
