Südlich von Chile Chico liegt die Reserva Nacional Lago Jeinimeni, die inzwischen in den Parque Nacional Patagonia integriert ist. Dort wollen wir ins Valle Lunar. Nach rund 25 km Anfahrt auf Schotterstraße sind die letzten 2,2 km der Zufahrt nur für Allradfahrzeuge mit großer Bodenfreiheit machbar. Sie bringt unser Wohnmobil an seine Grenzen, aber wir schaffen es bis zum Wanderparkplatz.
Moon Valley
South of Chile Chico lies the Reserva Nacional Lago Jeinimeni, which is now integrated into the Parque Nacional Patagonia. There we want to go into the Valle Lunar. After about 25 km of approach on gravel road, the last 2.2 km of the access road are only feasible for four-wheel drive vehicles with high clearance. It pushes our camper to its limits, but we make it to the hikers‘ car park.

Der 7,2 km lange Rundwanderweg führt zu mehreren Sehenswürdigkeiten. Uns ist er zu lang und wir wollen ohnehin nur die letzte Station, das Mondtal, sehen. Also gehen wir ihn vom Ende her. Doch was wir nicht geahnt haben: Der Pfad ist steil, sehr steil, außerdem sehr sandig und daher rutschig. Hinzu kommt der heftige patagonische Wind, der uns Staub ins Gesicht bläst und an uns zerrt, dass es manchmal nur mit aller Kraft möglich ist, das Gleichgewicht zu halten.
The 7.2 km long circular trail leads to several sights. We consider it is too long for us and we only want to see the last station, the Moon Valley, anyway. So we walk it from the end. But what we did not suspect: The path is steep, very steep, also very sandy and therefore slippery. Add to this the fierce Patagonian wind that blows dust in our faces and tugs at us so that sometimes it is only possible to keep our balance with all our strength.

Die Etappe bis zum Valle Lunar ist zwei Kilometer lang, aber wir haben den Eindruck, auf den Mond zu steigen. Was wir dort oben sehen, macht die Anstrengungen wett und die des nicht minder schwierigen Abstiegs.
The stage up to the Valle Lunar is two kilometres long, but we have the impression of climbing onto the moon. What we see up there makes up for the effort and that of the no less difficult descent.
