On the way to Mud Volcano, we are delayed by a bison trotting leisurely ahead of us, always neatly on the right-hand side of the road.

Und dann kochen Pfützen und Tümpel, Schlamm spritzt hoch, ein Schlamm-Geysir eruptiert ungefähr jede Minute. Ehemals hat hier ein Vulkan Schlamm in die Umgebung gespuckt, bis er im 19. Jahrhundert explodierte. Das gesamte Areal ist nach ihm benannt. Es reicht bis jenseits des Yellowstone River.
And then puddles and pools boil, mud splashes up and a mud geyser erupts roughly every minute. A volcano used to spew mud into the surrounding area here until it exploded in the 19th century. The entire area is named after it. It extends to the other side of the Yellowstone River.
