Etwa auf halbem Weg zwischen Târgu Jiu und Tismana, in einem Waldstück bei Franceşti, führen bei einem (wie üblich vermüllten) Rastplatz zu beiden Seiten der Straße 67D Wege in und durch den Wald. Einer davon endet nördlich am Waldrand. Hier haben wir einen herrlichen Stellplatz. An einer Seite haben wir einen lichten Eichenwald. An der anderen geht der Blick über eine fast kahle Ebene auf die Südkarpaten im Licht der untergehenden Sonne; spontan fühlen wir uns beide unabhängig von einander nach Namibia in die Wüste Namib versetzt.
Namib near Franceşti? About halfway between Târgu Jiu and Tismana, in a stretch of forest near Franceşti, at a (as usual littered) rest area on both sides of road 67D, paths lead into and through the forest. One of them ends north at the edge of the forest. Here we have a wonderful pitch. On one side we have a sparse oak forest. On the other, the view goes across an almost bare plain to the Southern Carpathians in the light of the setting sun; spontaneously, we both feel transported to Namibia in the Namib Desert, independently of each other.
