Ouimet Canyon
In der Nähe von Dorion zwischen Thunder Bay und Nipigon liegt etwas versteckt in den Bergen eine geologische Sensation: Der Ouimet Canyon. Sehr komfortable Holzstege machen ihn sogar für Rollstuhlfahrer zugänglich. Von zwei Plattformen können wir in den Schlund hinein blicken. Eine weitere Besonderheit ist die Flora am Grund des Canyon. Hier siedelt eine Pfanzengemeinschaft, die sonst nur in subarktischen Gebieten tausend Kilometer nördlich wächst. Obwohl der Himmel grau ist, hat sich die etwas schwierige Fahrt hierher über erhebliche Steigungen gelohnt.
