Cow Head
Bei Cow Head, außerhalb des Gros Morne National Park an seinem nördlichen Ende, wollen wir den Leuchtturm suchen. Der kleine Ort hat liebevoll einen Wanderweg durch Wald und Wiesen angelegt und am Ortsrand auf einem Plan diverse Sehenswürdigkeiten aufgeführt, die an dem Rundweg liegen. Am Beginn des Weges steht ein kleines Amphitheater mit schrill bunt gestrichenen Bänken und Klohäuschen. Wie in ganz Neufundland, wirklich überall, gehen wir auch hier durch blühende Walderdbeeren. Daneben blühen Veilchen. Auf einer Lichtung erreichen wir einen abgeschliffenen Felsen, laut Informationstafel früher ein beliebter Spielplatz der Kinder. Im Wald entdecken wir ungewöhnliche, becherartige Pilze und an den Bäumen besonders große Flechten. Der kleine, ehemalige Leuchtturm steht mitten im Wald, fast zugewachsen.
At Cow Head, outside the Gros Morne National Park at its northern end, we want to search the lighthouse. The little town has lovingly created a hiking trail through woods and meadows and listed on the outskirts on a map various attractions that are located on the circular route. In the forest we discover unusual, cup-like mushrooms and on the trees particularly large lichens. The small, former lighthouse stands in the middle of the forest, almost overgrown.
Eigentlich sind wir schon auf dem weiteren Weg zurück, da entdecken wir die spektakuläre Felsenküste, die wir auf dem Wegeplan garnicht ernst genommen hatten. Wow!
Actually, we are already on the way back, as we discover the spectacular rocky coast, which we had not taken seriously on the waymap. Wow!
