Kookaburra und Karri
Im Porongurup National Park sitzt in einem Baum über unseren Köpfen, in etwa drei Metern Höhe, ein Verwandter des Eisvogels, der ‚Lachende Hans‘ (Kookaburra), und lässt sich nicht aus der Ruhe bringen.

In Porongurup National Park, sitting in a tree above our heads, about three meters up, is a relative of the kingfisher, the ‚laughing Hans‘ (Kookaburra), and can not be disturbed.
Eine der Attraktionen des Parks sind Karribäume. Dieser riesige Eukalyptus, einer der höchsten Bäume der Welt, wird bis zu 60 m, vereinzelt bis zu 90 m hoch. Er kommt nur im Südwesten Westaustraliens vor, in Gebieten mit viel Niederschlag.
One of the attractions of the park are Karri trees. This huge eucalyptus, one of the tallest trees in the world, grows up to 60 meters, occasionally up to 90 meters high. It occurs only in the southwest of Western Australia, in areas with heavy rainfall.
