Shanghai
Von Tunxi / Huangshan City fahren wir mit dem Nachtzug nach Shanghai. Der große Bahnhof ist fast menschenleer, nur Inhaber von Fahrkarten dürfen hinein. Unser Guide händigt uns die Fahrkarten aus und bringt uns bis zum Abteil. Noch bevor der Zug anfährt, sammelt der Schaffner die Fahrkarten ein und verwahrt sie während der Fahrt. Vor dem Aussteigen bekommen wir sie wieder. Den Zielbahnhof kann man nur mit Fahrkarte verlassen. Europäer hätten ihre dann schon weggeworfen, das wird so verhindert.
Nach einem Regentag zum Abhängen in einem sehr komfortablen Shanghaier Hotel ist unser Ziel der Bund, die Uferpromenade am Huangpu mit seinen prachtvollen Kolonialbauten. Stolz lassen sich hier chinesische Touristen vor der spektakulären Kulisse von Pudong auf der anderen Seite des Flusses fotografieren, einzeln, als Paar oder als Reisegruppe.
From Tunxi / Huangshan City we take the night train to Shanghai. The large train station is almost deserted, only holders of tickets are permitted. Our guide gives us the tickets and takes us to the compartment. Before the train starts, the conductor collects the tickets and keeps them during the journey. We get them back before we get off. You can only leave the train station with a ticket. Europeans would already have thrown theirs away, thus is prevented.
After a rainy day to hang out in a very comfortable Shanghai hotel, our goal is the Bund, the waterfront promenade at the Huangpu with its magnificent colonial buildings. Chinese tourists are proud to be photographed in front of the spectacular scenery of Pudong on the other side of the river, individually, as a couple or as a travel group.
Unweit vom Bund liegt die so genannte Altstadt. Hier herrscht ein faszinierendes Menschengewirr. Aber außer dem Yu-Garten und dem Huxinting-Teehaus in einem künstlichen Teich mit Zickzack-Brücke ist hier nicht mehr viel alt. Kern des Viertels ist ein Touristen-Basar mit Souvenir-Läden, Restaurants und Garküchen.
Not far from the Bund lies the so-called Old Town. There is a fascinating crowd of people. But besides the Yu garden and the Huxinting teahouse in an artificial pond with zigzag bridge is not much old here. The core of the district is a tourist bazaar with souvenir shops, restaurants and food stalls.
