Epídauros
Oliver, der heute 40 wird, gratulieren wir hiermit zum Geburtstag mit großem Theater.
Epídauros, etwa 30 km östlich von Náfplio, ist das am Besten erhaltene antike Theater in Griechenland. Wir sind schlichtweg beeindruckt, nicht nur von seiner Größe mit 14.000 Sitzplätzen, sondern auch von einigen technischen Finessen des 2300 Jahre alten Bauwerks. Z.B.: Die Akustik ist bis in die letzte Reihe perfekt; für den hier selten vorkommenden Regen sind die Sitze ein wenig geneigt, sodass das Wasser nach unten und dort durch Öffnungen im Boden abfließt.
We congratulate Oliver, who is 40 today, for his birthday with great theater. Epídauros, about 30 km east of Náfplio, is the best preserved ancient theatre in Greece. We are simply impressed, not only by its size with 14,000 seats, but also by some technical finesse of the 2300 year old building. For example, the acoustics are perfect right up to the last row; for the rare rain here, the seats are slightly inclined so that the water drains downwards and through openings in the ground.
