Swans until the horizon
Mýrar, the area northwest of Borgarnes, is often overlooked on the way to Snæfellsnes (or on the way back). It is hardly mentioned in tour guides and touristy hardly developed. Two gravel roads lead through the flat land in large successive arches. But this is not Sander, as along the south coast.
The land is planed by glaciers. There are many pretty lakes, wetlands as well as small bays and the correspondingly many different birds. On a pasture at some distance we observe a large flock of whooper swans.
