Am folgenden Tag sind wir wieder am Chilkoot River. In den Bergen am Fluss und am Lynn Canal hängen Wolken. Wir patrouillieren gewissermaßen am Fluss, gehen bis zur Lutak Bridge, die ihn quert, und zurück. Gelegentlich wagt sich ein Seehund vom Meer her ein Stück flussaufwärts ins Süßwasser. Von der Brücke aus können wir sie gut beobachten, zumal sie offenbar neugierig sind.
Einer der Angler im Fluss hat einen Lachs gefangen. Zu zweit wird er geborgen, der Fang fotografiert. Aber er muss wieder ins Wasser gesetzt werden, so ist es für Sockeye-Lachse öffentlich angeordnet.
Dann steht ein Weißkopfseeadler auf einem Stein im Fluss und frisst einen Fisch. Schließlich fliegt er mit seiner Beute in einen Baum und frisst dort weiter.
Patrol at the Chilkoot River
The following day we are back at the Chilkoot River. Clouds hang in the mountains by the river and Lynn Canal. We patrol the river, so to speak, walking to the Lutak Bridge that crosses it and back. Occasionally a harbour seal ventures upstream from the sea into the fresh water. We can watch them from the bridge, especially as they are obviously curious.
One of the anglers in the river has caught a salmon. Two of them retrieve it and photograph the catch. But it has to be put back in the water, as is the public order for sockeye salmon.
Then a bald eagle stands on a rock in the river and eats a fish. Finally, it flies into a tree with its prey and continues eating there.
