Zwischen dem Monte León Nationalpark und Rio Gallegos überquert die Ruta Nacional 3 eine Flussaue des Rio Coyle / Rio Coig. Nach hunderten Kilometern durch die braungraue patagonische Buschsteppe ist dieses Flusstal in Grün und Blau ein Fest für die Augen. Es ist ein Refugium für Wasservögel. Flamingos setzen ihre typischen rosa Farbtupfer. Bei den Magellan-Gänsen ahnen wir, dass SIE die Eier ausbrüten muss; mit ihrem braunen Gefieder ist sie bestens getarnt für die Steppe. ER hat den großen Auftritt. Aber wehe, ein anderer kommt seinem „Mädel“ zu nahe; dann gibt es ein Schein-Duell. Anschließend tun die Kontrahenten so, als ob sie sich gegenseitig gar nicht wahrnehmen.
