Von Ulcinj an der montenegrinischen Küste wollen wir ins Hinterland, zum Skutarisee. Bei strahlendem Himmel fahren wir zunächst auf Shkoder zu, das liegt schon in Albanien. Bei Vladimir biegen wir auf eine Landstraße ab. Die führt uns am Südosthang des Rumia-Gebirgszugs sowohl bergan als auch direkt auf die albanische Grenze zu. Die Ausblicke von der Straße sind großartig. Die Dörfer unter uns, im Südwesten Montenegros, werden nicht von Kirchtürmen überragt sondern von Minaretten. Als die Straße zum Skutarisee abbiegt, ist die Grenze nur noch etwa 300 m entfernt.
From Ulcinj on the Montenegrin coast we want to the hinterland, to the Skadar Lake. In bright skies, we drive first in the direction Shkoder, which is already in Albania. At Vladimir we turn off onto a country road. That leads us along the southeast slope of the Rumia mountain range both uphill and directly to the Albanian border. The views from the road are great. The villages below us, in the southwest of Montenegro, are not dominated by church towers but by minarets. As the road turns to the Skadar Lake, the border is only about 300 meters away.
