In Praid ist die bekannteste Salzmine Rumäniens. Unweit der Mine tritt das Salz als Gestein wie Felsen an die Erdoberfläche. Im so genannten Salz-Canyon (Canionul Sara) ist das sehr schön zu sehen. Der Corund-Fluss hat ein Tal ausgewaschen (nicht wirklich einen Canyon) und an beiden Ufern die Salz-Felsen freigelegt. Auf einem guten Holzbohlenweg wandern wir auf einem Rundkurs etwa 1,5 km durch das Tal. Dort sowie links und rechts ist an insgesamt neun Stationen das offen liegende Salzgestein zu sehen sowie kleine Rinnsale, die Salz aus dem Berg schwemmen. An ihren Rändern kristallisiert es zu hübschen Krusten. Da sind sehr bizarre Salzformationen zu sehen, die Wasser (Niederschlag) modelliert hat. Einige Hänge leuchten bei Sonnenschein rot von den dort wachsenden salzliebenden Quellern. Der Fluss führt Süßwasser, außer nach starkem Regen. Der spült große Mengen Salz in den Fluss. Die Fische werden dann schwindelig und die Menschen dort fangen sie mit der Hand.
Salt Canyon At Praid is the most famous salt mine in Romania. Not far from the mine, the salt comes to the surface as rocks. This can be seen very beautifully in the so-called salt canyon (Canionul Sara). The Corund River has washed out a valley (not really a canyon) and exposed the salt rocks on both banks. We walk on a good wooden plank path on a circular route for about 1.5 km through the valley. There, as well as to the left and right, the exposed salt rock can be seen at a total of nine stations, as well as small rivulets that wash salt out of the mountain. At their edges it crystallises into pretty crusts. There are very bizarre salt formations that water (precipitation) has modelled. Some slopes glow red in the sunshine from the salt-loving saltwort growing there. The river carries fresh water, except after heavy rain. This washes large quantities of salt into the river. The fish then get dizzy and the people there catch them by hand.
