Parque Nacional El Palmar
Der Nationalpark El Palmar am Westufer des Rio Uruguay dient dem Schutz der Yatay-Palmen. Die waren in der Region zwischen dem Rio Uruguay und dem Rio Paraná ursprünglich sehr verbreitet und mussten der Landwirtschaft weichen. Dass der Park sehr gut besucht ist, liegt vielleicht mit daran, dass es mehrere kurze und mittlere Wanderwege gibt. Der wichtigste Grund sind vermutlich die Capybaras (argentinisch: Carpinchos), die man hier sehr gut beobachten kann. Sie lassen sich kaum aus der Ruhe bringen. So behäbig die erwachsenen Tiere, so flink sind die jungen.
The El Palmar National Park on the west bank of the Rio Uruguay serves to protect the Yatay palms. They were originally very common in the region between the Rio Uruguay and the Rio Paraná and had to give way to agriculture. The fact that the park is very well visited is perhaps partly due to the fact that there are several short and medium hiking trails. The most important reason is probably the capybaras (Argentinian: carpinchos), which can be observed very well here. They can hardly be ruffled. Sedate as the adult animals are as nimble are the young.
