Light on the Adriatic Sea

To Greece it goes, with our motorhome of course. For three days we drove southwards through Germany, passing through rain for hours each day. In Austria the weather is constantly improving and the further we advance in Italy, the more summerly it becomes.

Italy is actually only on the way, too. But we do not have to hurry, on the other hand it is is too bad for this country to see only its expressways. The Aroundgetter has already researched a few destinations: Lighthouses for his collection. They stand exclusively by the sea and thus the enthusiasm of Mrs. Roundgetter is assured. In addition, experience shows that we are discovering more interesting places by this approach.

There are not many lighthouses at the Italian Adriatic. The first, which is more or less on the way, is near Pesaro, south of Rimini, according to Shell Atlas. The place does not like our navigation device. Countless streets in the city center, to which the navi sends us, are blocked. After all, we’ll make it to the old harbour. The lighthouse is not to be seen. Well, then not! On the retreat from the old town with its narrow streets we do see it. It stands far up on the steep coast.

So we drive up the serpentines, kilometer by kilometer, but the lighthouse has been hidden in the forest. After all, we reach an idyllic, large parking lot with a panoramic view over the Adriatic Sea. The sun is already low and we decide to spend the night here. The originally planned day’s goal is out. And from the footpath at the parking lot actually the Faro di Pesaro can be seen. A few hundred yards away it juts out of the forest.

The next destination, Fano, about 20 kilometers further south, is initially also not „willing“ and „fights“ our navi. But then we do find the lighthouse, at the picturesque old harbour. As an addition we get light like silk.
