Silver City
Nur wenige Kilometer vom Sheep Mountain Visitor Centre in Richtung Haines Junction und Whitehorse zweigt nach Norden eine schmale, kurze Schotterstraße zum Kluane Lake ab. Kurz vor Ende der Straße liegt die Geisterstadt Silver City.
Um die Wende vom 19. zum 20. Jahrhundert wurde hier eine Poststation installiert, später folgte eine Kaserne der berittenen Polizei (North West Mounted Police). Beim Bau des Alaska Highway im Jahr 1942 wurde der Ort kurzzeitig wiederbelebt. Heute geben die Ruinen insbesondere inmitten der Farben des Indian Summer schöne Bilder ab.
Only a few kilometers from the Sheep Mountain Visitor Centre in the direction of Haines Junction and Whitehorse a narrow, short gravel road branches off to the Kluane Lake to the north. Just before the end of the road is the ghost town Silver City.
Around the turn of the 19th to the 20th century, a post office was installed here, later a barracks of the mounted police (North West Mounted Police). During the construction of the Alaska Highway in 1942, the village was revived for a short time. Today, the ruins, especially in the colors of the Indian Summer, yield beautiful pictures.
