Nordirische Ausblicke
Von Greencastle setzen wir mit der Fähre über das Lough Foyle nach Magilligan Point in Nordirland über. Das geht völlig problemlos, wie jede andere Fährüberfahrt in Irland, ohne Grenzabfertigung. Und kaum sind wir ein paar hundert Meter auf nordirischem Boden unterwegs, haben wir schon einen bildschönen Platz für unsere Mittagspause gefunden. Auf einer Klippe neben der Straße blicken wir über einen fast endlosen, trocken gefallenen Strand nach Inishowen in der Irischen Republik hinüber.
Northern Irish Views
From Greencastle we take the ferry across Lough Foyle to Magilligan Point in Northern Ireland. This goes completely smoothly, like every other ferry crossing in Ireland, without border clearance. And hardly have we travelled a few hundred metres on Northern Irish soil before we have found a picture-perfect spot for our lunch break. On a cliff next to the road, we look across an almost endless, dry beach to Inishowen in the Irish Republic.

Auf einer Anhöhe, einige Kilometer landeinwärts, steht eine Skulptur des „Irischen Meeresgottes“ Sohn des Meeres (Manannán Mac Lir). Hier haben wir vom Gortmore Viewpoint eine noch weitere Aussicht, auch bis nach Inishowen.
On a hill, a few kilometres inland, there is a sculpture of the „Irish Sea God“ Son of the Sea (Manannán Mac Lir). Here we have from the Gortmore Viewpoint an even wider view, also as far as Inishowen.
