Hangzhou gilt als Zentrum der Seidenherstellung. Das Ausstellungs- und Handelszentrum der Seidenindustrie kann besichtigt werden. Dort sind die Produktionsschritte vom Kokon zum Seidenfaden zu sehen. Eine alte Spinnmaschine ist in Betrieb, alte Webstühle sind ausgestellt. Wir erfahren, dass es zwei Arten Seidenkokons gibt: Einzeln verpuppte Seidenraupen, deren Faden man abspulen kann, und paarweise gemeinsam verpuppte, deren gemeinsames Geflecht als Fläche auseinander gezogen in mehreren Lagen als Füllung z.B. für Seidenbetten verwendet wird. Im angeschlossenen Kaufhaus wird praktisch alles angeboten, was aus Seide herstellbar ist.
Silk from Hangzhou
Hangzhou is considered the center of silk production. The exhibition and trade center of the silk industry can be visited. The production steps from the cocoon to the silk thread can be seen here. An old spinning machine is in operation, old looms are displayed. We learn that there are two types of silk cocoons: single-pupated silkworms, whose threads can be unwound, and in pairs pupated together, whose joint netting is pulled apart and in several layers is used as a filling, e.g. for silk beds. In the attached department store practically everything is offered, that can be produced from silk.
