Auf dem Überseeboulevard in der Hamburger HafenCity präsentiert die 33. OPEN ART fünfzig großformatige Fotos aus Kanada. 49 davon sind Aufnahmen, die wir auf unseren bisherigen Reisen durch das zweitgrößte Land der Erde gemacht haben. Diese Fotos haben wir alle hier im Blog veröffentlicht. Fünf Monate lang, vom 23. April bis 20. September 2026, sind sie unter dem Titel „Kanada – von Natur aus vielfältig“ zu sehen.
Die Fotodrucke im Format 180 cm x 120 cm sind open-air entlang der Flaniermeile / Fußgängerzone des Überseeboulevard aufgestellt und kostenlos Tag und Nacht zu sehen. Unterhalb jedem der Bilder ist eine kleine Informationstafel angebracht. Darin stehen der Titel des Fotos und eine kurze Beschreibung, in Deutsch und Englisch. In einer kleinen Übersichtskarte Kanadas ist der Ort markiert, an dem das Foto aufgenommen wurde.
Unsere Fotos so zahlreich und beeindruckend groß gedruckt in aller Öffentlichkeit ausgestellt zu sehen, erfüllt uns mit unbändiger Freude.
Donation campaign
On Überseeboulevard in Hamburg’s HafenCity, the 33rd OPEN ART exhibition is showcasing fifty large-format photographs from Canada. Forty-nine of these are images we have taken on our previous travels through the world’s second-largest country. We have published all of these photographs here on the blog. For five months, from 23 April to 20 September 2026, they will be on display under the title “Canada – Diverse by Nature”.
The 180 cm x 120 cm photo prints are displayed outdoors along the promenade / pedestrian zone of Überseeboulevard and can be viewed free of charge day and night. A small information panel is attached below each of the images. It features the title of the photo and a brief description, in German and English. A small map of Canada shows the location where the photo was taken.
Seeing our photos displayed in public in such large numbers and printed in such impressive sizes fills us with boundless joy.
Verbleib der ausgestellten Fotodrucke
Schon während der Ausstellung haben Besucher*innen die Möglichkeit, sich ihr Lieblingsmotiv auf Dauer zu sichern. Die hochwertigen Original-Fotodrucke werden nach Ende der Ausstellung an diejenigen verschenkt, die in der Ausstellungszeit vom 24.04. bis 20.09.2026 den gemeinnützigen Verein Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. mit einer angemessenen Spende unterstützen. Jede*r Spender*in darf sich jeweils ein Bild unter folgenden Bedingungen aussuchen:

die Fototafel ist noch verfügbar, also noch nicht für einen Spender reserviert,
-
die Fototafel wird kurzfristig nach Ende der Ausstellung im Zeitraum 24. September bis 09. Oktober 2026 und nach Absprache direkt bei Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. in Hamburg-Hamm abgeholt.
Eine Zustellung ist nicht möglich. Wegen der Größe der Fototafeln können die nicht in einem PKW transportiert werden! Für die Abholung wird ein Transporter benötigt. Interessenten, die nicht selbst ein geeignetes Fahrzeug haben, könnten z.B. einen Kurierdienst beauftragen; die Kosten dafür wären selbst zu tragen.
Dank der hohen Qualität sind die Fotodrucke ausgesprochen robust und strahlen nach einer Säuberung trotz der 5 Monate im Hamburger Wetter wie neu.
Es gibt keinen Rechtsanspruch auf eine Fototafel. Der Rechtsweg ist ausgeschlossen.
Whereabouts of the exhibited photo prints
Already whilst the exhibition is running, visitors have the opportunity to secure their favourite image for the long term. The high-quality original photographic prints will be given as gifts, once the exhibition has ended, to those who support the non-profit organisation Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. with a suitable donation during the exhibition period from 24 April to 20 September 2026. Each donor may choose one picture under the following conditions:

the plaque is still available, i.e. has not yet been reserved for a donor,
-
the plaque will be collected directly from Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. in Hamburg-Hamm shortly after the exhibition ends, between 24 September and 9 October 2026, by arrangement.
Delivery is not possible. Due to their size, the photo panels cannot be transported in a passenger car! A van is required for collection. Those interested who do not have a suitable vehicle of their own could, for example, hire a courier service; the costs would be borne by them.
Thanks to their high quality, the photo prints are extremely durable and, after cleaning, look as good as new despite having spent five months exposed to the Hamburg weather.
There is no legal entitlement to a photo panel. Legal action is excluded.
Technische Informationen zu den Fototafeln
- Die Fototafeln sind wetterfest.
- Es sind hochwertige Fotodrucke auf 3mm dickem Alu-Dibond.
- Maße: 1,20 Meter mal 1,80 Meter.

Die Tafeln brauchen wegen ihres Gewichts spezielle Aufhänge-Vorrichtungen. Die Firma PPS, die sie gedruckt hat, gibt dazu folgende Hinweise:
Für die Befestigung empfehlen wir keine Powerstrips, da diese auf der glatten Oberfläche und bei dem Gewicht nicht zuverlässig halten.

Technical information about the photo panels
- The photo panels are weatherproof.
- They are high-quality photo prints mounted on 3mm-thick aluminium Dibond.
- Dimensions: 1.20 metres by 1.80 metres.
- Each photo panel weighs approx. 7.6 kg.
- No hanging fixtures are provided.
Due to their weight, the panels require special mounting brackets. PPS, the company that printed them, provides the following guidance:
We do not recommend using PowerStrips for mounting, as they do not hold securely on the smooth surface and cannot support the weight.

Spendenempfänger
Der Verein Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. unterstützt die sprachliche Integration von erwachsenen Zugewanderten und ist Träger des Ehrenamtsprojekts „Sprache im Alltag”. Dieses umfasst kostenfreie Gesprächsrunden mit Exkursionen. Die Gesprächsrunden finden in ganz Hamburg, online und mobil statt. Alle Gesprächsangebote von Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. werden von Ehrenamtlichen geleitet, die für diese Aufgabe speziell geschult und begleitet werden.
Der Verein Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. steht für die Förderung sprachlicher Integration im Sinne eines Aufeinander-Zugehens, Voneinander-Lernens und Miteinander-Wachsens mit dem Ziel, einen Beitrag zum verständnisvollen Miteinander verschiedener Ethnien und Nationen in unserer multikulturellen Gesellschaft zu leisten. Mit dem Ehrenamtsprojekt „Sprache im Alltag“ sollen Zugewanderte und Geflüchtete ermutigt werden, ihr erlerntes Deutsch anzuwenden und zu vertiefen.
Beneficiary
The Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. association supports the linguistic integration of adult immigrants and runs the voluntary project “Sprache im Alltag” (Language in Everyday Life). This involves free discussion groups combined with excursions. The discussion groups take place across Hamburg, online and mobile. All discussion groups run by Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. are led by volunteers who have been specially trained and supported for this role.
The Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. association is dedicated to promoting linguistic integration through mutual engagement, learning from one another and growing together, with the aim of contributing to understanding and harmony between different ethnic groups and nations in our multicultural society. The voluntary project “Language in Everyday Life” aims to encourage immigrants and refugees to use and improve the German they have learnt.

Krim (Frau Rumkommer) ist Gründungsmitglied des Vereins und auch auf unseren Reisen beratend für ihn tätig. Während unserer sechsmonatigen Reise durch ganz Kanada hat sie aus der Ferne online die Finanzen des Vereins verwaltet. Reinhard (Herumkommer) unterstützt Krims Engagement für den Verein nach Kräften.
Wir sind beide Ausländer, in jedem Land, das wir bereisen. Daher sind uns Schwierigkeiten bei der Verständigung vertraut. Außerdem glauben wir an die gegenseitige Bereicherung verschiedener Kulturen. Nicht zuletzt aus diesen Erkenntnissen ist uns die Förderung der deutschen Sprache für Ausländer in Deutschland ein Anliegen.
Der Verein Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. und sein Projekt „Sprache im Alltag“ finanzieren sich über Spenden und öffentliche Mittel von der Sozialbehörde Hamburg.
Mit Geld- oder Sachspenden wird der Ausbau des Projekts gefördert und ein wichtiger Beitrag zur sprachlichen Integration erwachsener Zugewanderter in Hamburg geleistet.
Krim (Mrs Roundgetter) is a founding member of the association and also acts in an advisory capacity for it during our travels. During our six-month journey across Canada, she managed the association’s finances remotely via the internet. Reinhard (Aroundgetter) supports Krim’s commitment to the association wholeheartedly.
We are both foreigners in every country we visit. We are therefore familiar with the difficulties of communicating. Furthermore, we believe in the mutual enrichment that different cultures bring. It is not least because of these insights that promoting the German language among foreigners in Germany is a matter of concern for us.
The Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. association and its “Language in Everyday Life” project are funded by donations and public funding from the Hamburg Social Welfare Authority.
Donations of money or in kind help to expand the project and make an important contribution to the linguistic integration of adult immigrants in Hamburg.

Organisation von Spende und Fotodruck-Geschenk
- Spender, die nach dem 23. April 2026 mindestens 250 € an den Verein Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. spenden, können uns über das Kontaktformular hier im Blog den Titel der Fototafel mitteilen, die sie gern geschenkt haben möchten. Gegebenenfalls können bis zu zwei weitere Titel von ersatzweise gewünschten Fototafeln genannt werden, für den Fall, dass das gewünschte und evtl. das ersatzweise nächst-priorisierte Foto schon vergeben ist.
- Ist das gewünschte sowie das nächst- und übernächst-priorisiert gewünschte Foto schon vergeben, wird dies dem Spender per E-Mail mitgeteilt.
- Falls die gewünschte bzw. die nächst- oder übernächst-priorisiert gewünschte Fototafel noch nicht vergeben ist, bekommt der Spender eine Antwort-E-Mail mit entsprechender Zusage für die Fototafel.
- Nach Eingang der Spende erhält der Spender eine E-Mail zum Ablauf der Übergabe der Fototafel. Der/die Spender*in bekommt eine Zuwendungsbestätigung vom Verein Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V..
- Falls eine angekündigte Spende nicht innerhalb von sieben Tagen nach Zusage auf dem Konto von Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. eingegangen ist, verfällt die Zusage und die betreffende Fototafel ist wieder für Spender verfügbar. Dies wird dem verhinderten Spender per E-Mail mitgeteilt.
- Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass eine Fototafel beschädigt ist, ist gering. Dennoch: Eine Garantie für den Zustand der Tafeln gibt es nicht.
Organising of donation and photo print gift
- Donors who donate at least €250 to Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. after 23 April 2026 can use the contact form here on the blog to let us know the title of the photo panel they would like to receive as a gift. If necessary, up to two further titles of alternative photo panels may be specified, in the event that the desired photo panel and, if applicable, the next-priority alternative have already been allocated.
- If the desired photo panel, as well as the next- and further-next-priority alternatives, have already been allocated, the donor will be notified by email.
- If the desired photo panel, or the next or further-priority choice, is not yet allocated, the donor will receive a reply email confirming the allocation of the respective photo panel.
- Upon receipt of the donation, the donor will receive an email detailing the handover process for the photo panel. The donor will receive a donation receipt from the Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. association.
- If a promised donation has not been received in the account of Sprachbrücke-Hamburg e.V. within seven days of confirmation, the confirmation will lapse and the photo panel in question will become available to donors again. The donor who is unable to proceed will be notified of this by email.
- The likelihood of a photo panel being damaged is low. However, there is no guarantee as to the condition of the panels.
