Storchenland Spanien

Storkland Spain

On the way from the Pyrenees to the Spanish south coast at the Atlantic, we saw a lot of storks. On church towers, e.g. in Ávila, southwest of Segovia, and on high voltage pylons near Isla Menor in the Doñana, we photographed them, in the Monfragüe National Park even black storks.

First, we assumed that storks nest throughout Spain. But we barely saw them east of Gibraltar. We only noticed that when we were able to watch them again on the way from the Mediterranean to the Spanish north coast in the west of the country, in Torrelaguna, north of Madrid.

Near Quintanilla de Agua, east of Lerma, a stork dynasty has apparently not only maintained its nest for decades, but also increased it considerably.
