Wir fahren an der Strait of Belle Isle entlang in den Norden von Neufundland, und nun sind sie da: Eisberge! Einige davon sind vermutlich Reste von Packeis, aber manche filigrane „Skulpturen“ und ein großer Brocken in der Ferne entstammen wohl grönländischen Gletschern. (Einige Eisberge gefährden eine Erdöl-Bohrplattform und werden deswegen von Versorgungsschiffen beschossen.) Die teilweise schneebedeckten Berge im Hintergrund sind Labrador.
We drive along the Strait of Belle Isle to the north of Newfoundland, and now they are there: icebergs! Some of them are probably remnants of pack ice, but some filigree „sculptures“ and a large lump in the distance probably come from Greenlandic glaciers. (Some icebergs endanger a petroleum drilling platform and are therefore fired at by supply ships.) The partially snow-capped mountains in the background are Labrador.
