Fünfzehn Kilometer westlich des Ortes Denmark, an der Südküste Westaustraliens, liegt Greens Pool. Die örtliche Tourismuswerbung erläutert enthusiastisch, dass dies „Paradies“ mit wellenlosem, stillen Wasser im William Bay National Park durch runde Felsbrocken fast vollständig vor den Wellen des südlichen Indischen Ozeans geschützt ist. Heute verspottet der Ozean diese Beschreibung. Sturm peitscht das Meer gegen die Felsen und den Strand hinauf, die Luft ist mit Salzwasser gesättigt. Aber dies ist nicht die Nordseeküste im Herbst sondern Australien im Frühling und so bricht immer wieder gleißendes Sonnenlicht durch die Sturmwolken und lässt das Meer, die Gischt und den wildromantischen Strand erstrahlen.
Storm surge in the bathtub
Fifteen kilometers west of the town of Denmark, on the south coast of Western Australia, lies Greens Pool. The local tourism advertisement enthusiastically explains that this „paradise“ with waveless, still waters in the William Bay National Park is almost completely protected by round boulders from the waves of the Southern Ocean. Today, the ocean mocks this description. Storm whips the sea against the rocks and up the beach, the air is saturated with salt water. However, this is not the North Sea coast in the fall but Australia in the spring and so again and again glistening sunlight breaks through the storm clouds and lets the sea, the spray and the wild romantic beach shine.
