Die Straße an der Ostküste der Isle of Lewis nach Tolsta Head ist schmal. Sie windet sich über die Felsen, gibt immer wieder Blicke auf kleine sandige Buchten frei und endet dann vor einer unvollendeten Brücke ins Nirgendwo. Auf dem Parkplatz davor wollen wir bleiben. Ich will mit den Füßen in den Atlantik und Vögel beobachten!
Der Atlantik ist hier rot! Gefärbt vom dunklen Wasser aus dem Moorbach. Das stört die Seevögel offensichtlich nicht. Neben den unterschiedlichen Möwen und Austernfischern sehen wir Trottellummen, wie sie im Sturzflug ins Meer schießen zum Fische fangen. Ein ums andere Mal begeistert mich die elegante Flugshow dieser Vögel.
Nosedive into the sea
The road on the east coast of the Isle of Lewis to Tolsta Head is narrow. It winds over the rocks, exposing glimpses of small sandy bays and then ends in front of an unfinished bridge to nowhere. We want to stay in the parking lot in front of it. I want to nest with my feet in the Atlantic and view birds!
The Atlantic is red here! Dyed by the dark water from the moor stream. Obviously that does not bother the seabirds. In addition to the different seagulls and oystercatchers, we see guillemots as they dive into the sea to catch fish. Time after time the elegant show of these birds excites me.
