Von den Karpaten-Querungen gelten ein paar als besonders spektakulär. Eine davon ist die Berg- und Passstraße Transalpina, Nationalstraße DN 67 C (Drumul National 67 C). Sie ist insgesamt 148 km lang, komplett asphaltiert und verbindet Sebeş in Siebenbürgen / Transsylvania im Norden und Târgu Jiu bei Bengești in der kleinen Walachei / Oltenia im Süden. Dabei überquert sie die Transsilvanischen Alpen, auch Südkarpaten genannt. Im Winter ist sie normalerweise gesperrt.
Wir starten im Norden und fahren zunächst lange durch eine Schlucht aufwärts. Links und rechts sind die steilen Hänge bewaldet. Am Stausee Lacul Oaşa Mică (Kleine Oase) reißen die Wolken auf, die Sonne lässt See und umgebenden Wald leuchten.
Transalpina upwards Of the Carpathian crossings, a few are considered particularly spectacular. One of them is the Transalpina mountain and pass road, National Road DN 67 C (Drumul National 67 C). Bevor es auf den Pass geht, begleitet der Fluss Lotru die Straße durch ein Tal. Hier gibt es am Fluss und an der Straße einige Stellen, die als Wohnmobil-Stellplätze geeignet sind.
Before climbing the pass, the river Lotru accompanies the road through a valley. There are a few places here by the river and the road that are suitable as camper pitches.
