In den Moränen beim Gletschersee Breiðárlón, unweit vom Jökulsárlón, entdecken wir zwei turtlende Schmarotzerraubmöwen. Zunächst beobachten sie uns aufmerksam, dann entschließen sie sich jedoch, die Distanz zu vergrößern. Ihren Namen verdanken sie offenbar der Tatsache, dass sie anderen Vögeln die Beute im Flug abjagen.

Cadger lovebirds

In the moraines near Lake Breiðárlón, not far from Jökulsárlón, we discover two doting skuas. At first they watch us carefully, but then they decide to enlarge the distance. They apparently owe their name to the fact that they chase away other birds‘ prey in flight.
